Cincinnati HMC from Fives targets hard-metal applications

The Cincinnati HMC 800 being introduced by Fives Group is aimed at demanding aerospace, oil and gas, and other industrial hard-metal manufacturing applications that require precision machining.

Among the notable features of the machine is the combination of high spindle torque and power with dynamic machine stiffness, as well as dual ball screws that provide feed rates of 45 m/min and acceleration/deceleration rates of 0.5 G.

The bridge and saddle, which are designed with enhanced dynamic stiffness, are said to facilitate optimum finish and tool life in hard-metal applications, from steel to titanium.

Capable of 5-axis, 5-sided complex part machining, the Cincinnati HMC 800 offers an infinite contouring B-axis table and compact U-frame A-axis tilting spindle. Additionally, all spindle options have external flood coolant capability up to 17 bar and internal thru-spindle coolant up to 103 bar. Spindle connection options for tooling include HSK-100A, KM4X100 and Big Plus 50.

The machine will be on display at IMTS 2018 (Chicago, 10-15 September), South Hall, Stand 338109.
