Cable free transmission of gauge measurements

Cable free transmission of gauge measurements

Bowers Metrology's miniature radio module allows the transmission of measured values from a multitude of shopfloor gauges that use the Opto-RS232 output. Replacing cumbersome gauge cables and interfaces boxes, the inexpensive IBR device enables a user of, say, a digital caliper, to transmit readings to a remote PC by pressing the gauge’s data key. If required, up to 120 individual gauges, all with their own unique identification are able to communicate over a distance of up to 650 ft. Full system data security is guaranteed by unique coding, while any possible transmission errors, caused by a radio interference etc, are automatically detected by the communication protocol between the PC and the gauge radio module. The system’s easy to use PC software allows the set-up of all parameters and ensures trouble free ‘wireless’ communications with a large variety of gauges from a large number of manufacturers.
