Bowers Metrology says S_Dial Work is world’s first fully configurable dial gauge

Bowers Metrology's S_Dial Work, a fully configurable versions of its Sylvac 213 series digital gauge, has menus that allow functions to be precisely defined by the user.

A comprehensive list of capabilities are available with the Bowers Metrology's S_Dial Work including min/max/delta, tolerance, factor, preset, auto off can be made 'live', or 'locked-out' depending on the job in hand. When reissued for a subsequent gauging task, the instrument can be rapidly reconfigured for completely different measuring routines. For multiple use situations such as fixture work, the Sylvac data and process control software SylConnect allows the connection by USB cables of up to 16 instruments. If required, the Sylvac gauges are able to transmit their readings via RS 232, USB, Digimatic or by a wireless transmitter. S_Dial Work indicators are available with measuring capacities of 12.5 and 25 mm and a display switchable resolution from 0.01 to 0.001 mm with a repeatability of 0.002 mm. The Sylvac indicators have a IP67 rating, according to IEC 60529 (Protected Versions), and are designed to operate within harsh measuring environments, such as in close proximity to machine tools. They are resistant to the ingress of water and coolant, even when fitted with data connection cables. Bowers says Sylvac indicators are robustly made, able to withstand extended shopfloor use and can be fitted with a wide range of contact points. All S_Dial Work indicators have an optional, ergonomic lifting device, and operate with CR2302 Lithium batteries. The S_Dial Work has simple three-button operation, says the company, and a highly visible LCD digital readout and coloured LED tolerance lights.
