Bowers Metrology introduces Falcon 500 multi-function hardness testers

Bowers Metrology's Falcon 500 series of multi-function hardness testing machines are capable of delivering precise automatic and manual results in Micro Vickers, Vickers, Knoop and Micro Brinell scales.

Falcon 500 testers cover a load range from 1 gf to 62.5 kgf and are designed to withstand use in harsh environments. A solid frame structure covered by shock and damage-proof ABS protects mechanical components and optics. The controller has no moving or running parts and has a robust chip and dust proof enclosure. A force actuator system that uses an electronically controlled closed loop system and advanced force sensor technology supports absolute accuracy, reliability and repeatability, says Bowers. Image evaluation is automatic and combined with intuitive operator software. This provides ease of use while removing operator influence from all test results. The system uses Impressions software. The easily accessed functions include test program setting and storing, image zoom, auto focus, limit settings, conversions to other hardness scales, system-set-up, remote control and pattern testing. Following each test, data such as total test, max, min, average, range and standard deviation are made available in real time. Data storage capacity is by Dual SSd 80 Gb, RAID system. The Falcon package includes standard indenters, a 5 mp HD camera, high power LED vertical illuminator with filter position, an anti-collision system and a 15-inch portrait mode, HD industrial touch-screen mounted on an adjustable table stand. Optional accessories include a range of certified indentors and hardness blocks, objectives from 2.5X to 100X and LED workpiece illumination. For system automation and speed, motorised ultra-fast CNC, positioning X-Y stages, CNC rotary table and CNC dividing heads are also available.
