Bowers’ carbon fibre comparator beam gauge measures large dimensions

Bowers Metrology has developed a modular carbon fibre comparator beam gauge suitable for precise measurement of critical diameters and lengths of over 4,000 mm. It overcomes many of the drawbacks associated with traditional metal beam gauges. Even at a span of 4,000 mm, the comparator is light enough for operators to handle with ease. Also the carbon fibre material is inherently stiff and its excellent co-efficient of thermal expansion properties support levels of accuracy and repeatability.

The measuring capacity of Bowers' comparator beam gauge's standard set is OD 0–1,930 / ID 150–2,150 mm, while the modular design of the gauge allows for infinite adjustment within these ranges. Additional 1,000 mm extensions in the standard kit set enable the range of the equipment to be extended. The set also includes tooling that enables the gauge to be quickly preset on Trimos horizontals or similar gauge setting machines. Bowers' standard kit also includes accessories such as gauge legs and depth stops. Dependant on the application and user preferences, the Bowers gauges can be supplied with either a digital or mechanical readout.
