Yamazaki Mazak continues as 'Official Supplier' of CNC machine tools to Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Formula One team

Vodafone McLaren Mercedes has extended its contract with the world's largest metalcutting machine tool maker, Yamazaki Mazak.

The agreement will see Mazak continue in its role as the sole Official Supplier of CNC machine tools to the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Formula One team. Mazak has supplied the team since 1999 and now has a total of 19 machines installed at the McLaren Technology Centre in Surrey, including multi-tasking and multi-axis machines such as the Integrex, Vortex and variaxis, as well as Quick Turn Nexus lathes and FJV machining centres. Mazak machines are used to manufacture key parts for the racing cars' transmission, suspension and aerodynamic assemblies. Jonathan Neale, managing director of McLaren Racing, commented: "We are delighted to have extended our relationship with Mazak. The partnership gives us access to the entire range of machine tools, with a common point of contact and excellent support. Time is a critical element to us, so it's vital that we have high performance machines and high availability every day of the week.
