Open Days hosted at XYZ Machine Tools' Blackburn and Nuneaton confirmed that XYZ is on course for another record-breaking year.
Between them, these two regional events attracted over 200 visitors from 98 companies, who to date have placed orders for 40 machine tools valued in total at more than £1 million.
The event follows on from a well attended May ‘open house’ at its Burlescombe, Devon, headquarters, when orders valued at more than £600,000 were placed.
September’s two-day ‘open house’ in Blackburn was the venue for the first showing of the ProtoTRAK EMX eMill range, which at £10,000 + VAT is by far the most cost-effective first step into CNC prismatic machining, while the November ‘open house’ at Nuneaton introduced the new XYZ Compact Turn 52.
This ‘high-spec, low-cost’ 15 kW/5000 rpm turning centre is equipped with the easy-to-use Siemens 810D conversational control and has X and Z axis travels of 185 mm and 325 mm.
First deliveries are scheduled for February 2008 and managing director Nigel Atherton is predicting, on the basis of the interest shown at the Nuneaton event, that this new machine with its 1700 mm (W) by 1300 mm (D) footprint will be particularly attractive to smaller companies where floor space is at a premium. “Reflecting our value-for-money philosophy,” he says, “the space-saving XYZ Compact Turn 52 will definitely enable users to make more from less.”
