XYZ Open Days bag £1.25 million spend

XYZ Machine Tools’ series of Open Days drew 200 visitors and saw orders to the value of £1.25 million taken.

Events were held at the company’s premises located at Waltham Abbey, Herts; Burlescombe, Devon (HQ); Blackburn, Lancs; and Nuneaton, Warks. Nigel Atherton, XYZ’s managing director, says the Devon-based machine tool importer remains on target to match last year’s record turnover. “We were expecting to see further growth this year,” he says, “but in the current climate it is reassuring that we are not seeing any noticeable effect on our year-on-year sales. Some orders have been cancelled or put on hold by larger companies but this has been countered by the sub-contracting sector, which continues to be busy.” Making its UK debut at the XYZ open days was the ProTURN ELX 1440 5 hp/2400 rpm lathe, which is equipped with the new entry-level ProtoTRAK ELX control system and is offered at £12,000.
