XYZ Machine Tools' new educational sales manager, David Stockton, is a former teacher and head of technology department with 30 years' experience within the educational sector.

The UK's largest supplier of CNC machine tools, XYZ has been equipping training establishments for more than 25 years, and this latest appointment underlines the Burlescombe, Devon, company's commitment across the entire spectrum of education and training. "By combining my experience of the educational sector with XYZ's acknowledged engineering know-how and comprehensive after-care service, real benefits can be had by all involved," says Mr Stockton. "Teachers and lecturers will benefit from up-to-the -inute training and applications support; bursars will be able to make their budgets go further; technicians will have greater confidence in the reliability, safety and performance of their machines; and students will benefit from innovative ideas such as 'XYZ Student Open Days', which will bring them into closer contact with the realities of engineering production." As part of the 'XYZ for education' initiative, Mr Stockton will be communicating the many benefits available to the UK's engineering training establishments and research centres. These include special pricing on the full XYZ range of manual, CNC/manual and full-CNC machines; up-to-the-minute training programmes; programming helplines; and full warranty cover. "The objective", he says, "is to equip the educational sector with the means to achieve a high level of engineering skill and to provide young people with the incentive to develop their individual skills."
