XYZ Open House success prompts more of the same

With a successful Open Day series behind it, XYZ Machine Tools is already looking ahead to more events in 2013.

The first will take place on 23-24 January at the Sheffield showroom shared with cutting tool specialist WNT UK Ltd, and the second on 20-21 February at XYZ's main factory and administration centre in Burlescombe. A rolling programme of refurbishment and restocking of its UK regional sales facilities presented XYZ Machine Tools' customers snap up some ex-demo machine tool bargains. The response to the two-day events taking place in the Waltham Abbey (London), Blackburn and Nuneaton showrooms surpassed the most optimistic expectations, with sales in total exceeding £2.25 million by the end of the final day. "Fantastic," was managing director Nigel Atherton's verdict on the sale of 65 machines, describing the result as an encouraging sign for the two 'open day' events already scheduled for early 2013. The partnership with WNT is said to be just one of several initiatives impacting favourably on XYZ's sales performance. Having a demonstration area in Sheffield equipped with several XYZ machines is proving to be another popular 'local' option for live machining demonstrations and off-site training. The net result is that demand for the Devon-based company's CNC/manual and full CNC machines, now available as standard with either Fanuc or Siemens control systems, contributed to a third successive record-breaking year. In support of that, the service team has been expanded so as to provide an even better response to customers' requests. The 27-strong Team Support operation run from the Burlescombe HQ provides high quality customer support, applications advice, service and parts supplies, and is an essential resource for a very competitive marketplace, says the company.
