WNT (UK) Regrind service broadened to take in wider range of drills

1 min read

Virtually all high speed steel and solid carbide drills, plus end-mills, along with PCD and CBN tipped indexable insert tools in WNT (UK)'s range are now covered by the company's Restart tool regrinding service.

The service guarantees to return tools to their original geometry and tool coatings, ensuring the return of optimum performance. To take advantage of the Restart service, customers should call 0800 073 2073 or e-mail orders@wnt.com. On receipt of this request, WNT will despatch a regrind box, delivery note and a courier returns label. Once the tools have been packed, the courier will then collect no later than the next day, with WNT receiving the tools for inspection the following morning. In order to maximise tool longevity, WNT removes as little material as possible. To ensure a smooth workflow and minimise disruption to customers, as soon as the first regrinds are received, a second regrind box and courier returns label is despatched to the customer, so that it can start sorting the next batch ready for grinding. To ease recognition, all tools reground by WNT are etched accordingly. With regrinds starting at £3.00 for a HSS drill, the WNT Restart service has a minimum order value of £50, but also has the advantage of not charging extra if a cutter requires cutting down in order to achieve the regrind. Any cutters deemed to be beyond economical regrind will not be ground and will be returned to the customer. As a result, the WNT Restart service is said to offer "exceptional value for money", with reground cutters being returned within 3-4 weeks, including coating time. A comprehensive catalogue containing details of every tool that is eligible for the WNT Restart service is available by telephoning 0800 073 2073 or e-mailing orders@wnt.com. Alternatively, ask a WNT Technical Sales Engineer about the service. Says Tony Pennington, managing director, WNT (UK): "The Restart service is available on a wide range of HSS and solid carbide tools, as well as PCD- and CBN-tipped inserts, and customers have the reassurance of their cutters being serviced by the people that manufactured them, to the original geometry and with the original tool coating reapplied. The Restart service is just another example of how WNT is working with its customers to drive down manufacturing costs by extending the life of existing cutters and delaying the requirement to buy new."
