Universal Robots appoints new sales manager

Danish automation company Universal Robots (UR) has appointed a new sales manager for UK and Ireland.

Mark Gray (pictured) will aim to stimulate and manage growth as the sale of collaborative robots, which work alongside humans, gathers pace.

He joins UR following 14 years’ service at Abtech, a manufacturer of vision systems, where he was sales director.

UR is a world leader in cobot technology with around 12,000 robot arms installed worldwide. These units’ ability to provide fast, inexpensive and flexible solutions for all is now striking a chord with manufacturers in the UK and Ireland, the company reports.

Founded in 2005, UR has a number of UK distributors among its network, including Geku Automation in Rochester, Kent, R A Rodriguez in Letchworth, Hertfordshire, Global Robots in Bedfordshire, and Olympus Technologies in West Yorkshire.

Says Gray: “Automation is a hot topic for manufacturers who are telling me that flexibility is definitely the key to their success. As UR robots can change duty to match production runs, customers can see that greater efficiency is easily achievable.

“This flexibility is also complemented by the fact that our robots can operate in a shared workspace and in a small factory footprint.”
