Visitors to Stand 5214, Hall 5 at MACH 2014 (Birmingham NEC, 7-11 April) will be able to discuss every machine available from the range of TW Ward CNC Machinery: Hankook horizontal and vertical lathes; Hartford double-column and open-fronted vertical machining centres; Hyundai Wia turning and machining centres; and Soraluce travelling column and travelling table milling centres.

As the sole UK distributor for these machine tool manufacturers, and with large in-stock availability, Ward CNC's experience extends from the supply of single stand-alone machine installations through to large turnkey project work. This can include small turned parts through to installations involving large capacity milling/machining centres for complex, single set-up machining routines. The Hankook 2-axis vertical boring and turning (VTL) range extends from the VTC85R, which has a maximum turning diameter of 830 mm and a maximum turning length of 800 mm, through to the VTC-5060/E. This can accommodate workpieces weighing 60,000 kg and has table/chuck, swing and turning diameters of 5,000, 6,000 and 6,000 mm, respectively, plus a maximum turning height of 3,000 mm and a vertical crossrail travel of 2,500 mm. Hankook heavy duty 2-axis lathes – which are said to be extremely popular with oil and gas industry customers – include the Hanturn Protec 6N series with a maximum turning diameter and length of 650 and 1,000 mm respectively, through to twin-chuck Protec models that offer up to 1,300 mm swing over the bed, 940 mm over the cross slide and spindle bores up to 440 mm diameter. The range of Hartford double-column and open-fronted vertical machining centres starts with the FI-LG series machines, which extend from models with X, Y and Z axis travels of 520 by 420 by 450 mm. The range extends to the large capacity, 22 kW (optionally 26 kW) DBC-4260H, which has a table of 4,150 by 2,040 mm able to handle loads of 10,000 kg. X, Y and Z-axis travels are 4,050 by 3,400 by 1,000 mm (optionally 1,200 mm). The Hyundai Wia CNC horizontal lathe range extends from the KIT-200/250 series, which have turning diameters and lengths starting at 160 and 60 mm respectively, through to the L600/700MA/LMA series with C-axis and driven tools. The maximum turning length is up to 3,250 mm and it is capable of turning diameters of up to 920 mm. A host of machines are embraced by Ward CNC's Soraluce travelling column and travelling table milling centres – beginning with the TA-A series travelling table machines which start with X, Y and Z-axis travels of 2,000, 1,000 and 1,000 mm respectively. The range extends to the large capacity SL-8000 fixed table, travelling column milling machine with an 8,000 by 1,100 mm fixed table, having both front and rear access for component location. The Soraluce range also includes the FXR-16000 milling and boring centre with 6,500 mm vertical and 2,900 mm cross traverses respectively, which can be equipped with any one of several 46 kW milling and boring heads as well as quill systems up to 71 kW to create bespoke machining solutions.
