By accessing these two platforms, customers can quickly collate all of the relevant WNT tooling information they need by entering basic criteria or, if known, the WNT article numbers. Once users have this data, it can be downloaded as a 3D model into CAM, simulation or tool management systems. In addition to dimensional data, tool images and specific product features are available.
This WNT tooling data is cloud-based and will be updated regularly to ensure the latest information is available to users at all times. (For more background on Machining Cloud, read this Machinery article)
Users can register for free with both systems and, as their interfaces differ slightly, can choose which one they prefer. Machining Cloud (www.machiningcloud.com) requires an app to be downloaded to an Android device, Apple unit or, desktop/laptop PC. With Tools United (www.toolsunited.com), users simply access the site through their web browser.
Says Tony Pennington, managing director, WNT (UK): “These two tool data platforms are another example of how at WNT we are aiming to simplify and speed up the tool selection process. This is the beginning of a new drive for efficiency and we will be investigating how we can interface our entire catalogue of tools with other systems in the future.”
