Subcontractor NPE appoints operations director

A well known industry figure Mr Myhill, founder and former managing director of Exact Engineering, brings with him immense knowledge and experience - not only of the engineering sector - but of owning and operating a successful company which, during his time at the helm, employed a workforce of 55 with an annual turnover of £3.5 million. With a traditional background, as a time-served toolmaker before launching his own business, Mr Myhill has a full appreciation of a manufacturing facility and what is required strategically to improve operating efficiencies and manufacturing output. Thanks to his extensive management and sales experience, he is also able to take a commercial view when looking to introduce new processes, which he is keen to do. Mr Myhill commented: "When deciding to join NPE – a traditional company with an established reputation for its forward thinking – it was evident that the foundations, a fantastic shop floor set up and a workforce with the core skills, were already in place. I see a key part of my role as building on those important factors by introducing processes which will allow us to expand our capability and in turn will support sales drives and outputs. "I am also keen to pass on my experience by mentoring some of NPE's up and coming talented workforce so that they too have a better understanding commercially of the part they play in the ongoing success of NPE. " Northern Precision Engineering works for clients in the aerospace, medical and energy sectors. The company has a full suite of manufacturing processes under one roof, from conventional milling and turning through multi-axis CNC lathes, large machining centres to specialist grinding, EDM and clean assembly areas. NPE can handle components that are the size of a postage stamp and weigh a couple of grams to working envelopes measured in metres and weights measured in tonnes.
