C Dugard scored a speedy, £70,000-plus success following an enquiry received via a website plus prompt attention.
The company received the enquiry at midday from a new customer for a vertical machining centre and within an hour the sales manager responsible for the West London area had made arrangements for the customer and a colleague, who was in the UK to source machines, to visit the Hove showroom to view a machine an hour and half later.
So impressed were the visitors by the response received, the layout of the showroom, the product range and the support available in their home country through Dugard’s agent, that by 4 pm not one but two Dugard Eagle 760 vertical machining centres were ordered - one with a fourth-axis unit. The two machines, worth over £70,000, were then scheduled for immediate delivery and installation.
“The customer wanted the machines for an important new contract and could not believe how quickly we could perform the necessary checks and put the wheels in motion to meet his needs with a ready-to-run package,” said Bob Horton, marketing manager.
The Dugard Eagle 760 has axis strokes of 760 mm by 430 mm by 460 mm with a 900 mm by 410 mm table. The 7.5 kW, ISO 40 spindle delivers 8,000 revs/min and is supported via a 16-station carousel tool magazine and Fanuc control.
