Spanish machine tool builder sets up China facility

Spain’s Nicolás Correa Group (GNC) has set up a production subsidiary in China.

GNC is the main manufacturer of milling machines for the machining of medium and large sized parts that includes the Correa and Anayak trade marks. The new subsidiary in China, called ‘Nicolas Correa Machine Tools (Kunming) Company Ltd’, is located in the city of Kunming, in the province of Junnan and will locally produce several bed and gantry type milling machines The production of the first models has already begun with the aim of presenting some of them in the Beijing trade fair to be held in April 2007. The Group presently has 400 employees, exports 80 per cent by volume, with China its third largest market, behind Spain and Germany. The new company's strategy is based on the production of standardised machinesfor the Chinese market, but in a second phase other markets will be supplied to complement the personalised products manufactured in the company’s Burgos and Itziar plants in Spain.
