Sodick, a developer and provider of EDM solutions, has announced the restructuring of its European operation.

Where previously Sodick distributors and dealers were supported by two separate companies: Sodick Europe, which handled machine sales, and Sodick Hightech Europe, which focused on consumables sales and service support, now both companies have been brought together into a single organisation. The newly expanded Sodick Europe Ltd, now covers all aspects of distributor and dealer support, including sales of replacement machine parts, EDM consumables and machine servicing for the whole of Europe, Russia, South Africa and the Middle East. Sodick Europe CEO Peter Capp (image) comments: "This £1 million re-organisation has been designed to provide every customer across Europe with one 'window' for all their Sodick requirements, from the latest high technology EDM machines, to a single reel of EDM brass wire to the provision of in-depth technical support. "In the UK, Sodick machine and consumables sales and support continues to be through sole Sodick distributor, Sodi-Tech EDM, which is growing both its sales and support activities and expects to be recruiting additional technical staff during the coming year." Sodick Europe operates from three offices, with its HQ in Coventry and two further sites in Germany, and employs 55 staff, 30 of whom are based in the UK, including seven technical staff seconded from Sodick Japan. The expanded division is expected to achieve a turnover in excess of £50 million in 2011.
