Machine Tool Engineers is the new UK agent for barfeed manufacturers Samsys and Top Automazioni.

Top Automazioni is said to be the leading Italian barfeed maker and its range now includes the new X-Files and Fusion barfeed systems. The new X-Files barfeed is ideally suited to fixed-head turning centres and can be changed from one bar diameter to another in less than 90 seconds, whereas most barfeeds can take up 30 minutes for such a change, it is claimed. The X-Files model handles bar of 10 to 110 mm bar and is offered in four length options - 2.1, 3.2, 4.1 and 6.1m- and it has feeding speed up to 500 mm/sec. The units are also heavily built, weighing in at 2,200 kg - 2,500 kg, with this claimed to be "significantly heavier than rival machines". Customers can also choose from three loading systems: fork lifter, designed to make it easier to lift heavy bars; a three-tiered loading system, with each tier holding 300 mm of bar stock; and a single tier holding 250 mm. Alternatively, an extra steady block is available to self-activate any bar diameters below 20 mm. All these features together "make the Top Automazioni X-Files the most efficient barfeed on the market", say its promoters. The new Fusion series of barfeed systems that has been developed specifically for the turning of small bar diameters from 6 to 45mm and 8 to 52mm diameters, depending upon the selected model. The Fusion incorporates the same functional features as the X-Files range to ensure that the benefit of reduced downtime, set-ups and improved productivity are available to manufacturers of small turned parts. Machine Tool Engineers also offers the Top Automazioni range of Magic Bar Feeds, with a capacity of 8 -110 mm, with a 1.6m maximum length; the Record Barfeed, the Beta 1 & 2, the Return and Matrix Series of barfeeds. Samsys barfeeds offered include the Multi3000 series, a 1.2 to 1.5m barfeed with a diameter range from 5 to 65 mm. The Multi3000 can accommodate round, hexagonal and shaped bar in uniform or random bar lengths. As an all electric unit, the Multi3000 requires no regular maintenance and has very low running costs. For a more comprehensive solution Machine Tool Engineers can also offer the Samsys 'Winning Sam' concept that allows the automatic loading and unloading of slugs, shafts and parts. For single-spindle machine tools, it also offers that ability to turn the components for automated rear-end working. The system is capable of working with bar diameters from 8-80 mm in bar lengths up to 1,600 mm
