Rainford Precision has merged with Deckel Grinders to become Rainford Precision Machines.

Rainford Precision and Deckel Grinders shared the same address in St Helens, Merseyside, and the new company is sited there too. Rainford Precision offered Union Tool cutting tools, and Deckel Grinders offered the Germany-produced Kern high precision machining centres. Both products are brought together within the new company.
As a company that works in the micro precision manufacturing sector, the amalgamation will see a closer relationship between the precision cutting tools and the high precision Kern machining centres. This will support a full service to the micro market with Kern machining centres that can guarantee an "on the workpiece accuracy" of +/-1 microns. This is complemented by the latest range of two flute Union Tool ball nosed cutters that offer diameters as small as 60 microns with a 2 micron radius tolerance.
For drilling applications, Rainford Precision Machines now holds in stock a range of Union Tool drills from 0.1 mm diameter up to 1.0 mm in 0.01 mm increments.
"With the marketplace continually evolving and the demand for micro precision increasing, our ability to provide a wide range of machine tools and cutting tools beyond the accuracy levels of competitors will serve us well in a competitive industry," said Arthur Turner, managing director of Rainford Precision Machines. "With regard to our cutting tools division, our diverse product mix and off-the-shelf range of precision end mills and drills enables us to meet customer needs for high quality products with micron tolerances and all at remarkably short lead times."
