New TA lathes from CMZ

1 min read

CMZ will show its latest TA range of turning centres and a TX66 Y3 machine at MACH 2014.

The TA machine has been designed to meet the widest possible range of customer requirements on a small machine. It has Y-axis milling, driven tools, as well as a choice of bed lengths and bar capacities. The highlight of the TA is the speed and power of its driven tools - 12,000 rpm as standard - that's about twice the speed of competitive machines. This high speed is combined with 11 kW of power to deliver up to 75 Nm of torque. There will be five possible machine configurations: a standard 2-axis; turning-only lathe; a turning and milling version; a turning and milling version with Y-axis; a sub-spindle version and, at the top of the range, a Y-axis turning and milling machine with sub-spindle. All can be fitted with a programmable servo-driven tailstock except for the sub-spindle versions. The TA range will be able to cope with bar sizes from 52 to 77 mm, and every machine is available in three bed lengths, with Z-axis options of 400, 640 and 1,100 mm. For companies that machine long shafts then the TA is said to be particularly good because it has the ability to combine a sub-spindle with a 1,100mm long Z-axis – something which is unusual for this type of machine. As with all of CMZ's lathes, a gantry loading system is available as an option on all TA machines. These capabilities will be demonstrated on the stand using one of CMZ's existing TC machines with driven tooling, Y-axis and sub-spindle. CMZ will also show its TX66 Y3 machine at MACH. This is a twin-spindle, 3-turret, multi-axis mill-turning centre. It has twin C-axis spindles and three 12-station turrets all with half-index capability. Each turret has driven tooling in the Y-axis running at 6,000 rpm (18 kW). Prices to be announced. CMZ will be in Hall 5 on Stand 5330.
