NCMT in top 10 fastest growing exporters, says Sunday Times/HSBC

NCMT has taken sixth place in Sunday Times league table of fastest growing exporters, with Makino VIPER (very impressive performance extreme removal) grinders key in its distinction.

Published on 11 June 2017, the eighth annual Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200 league ranks 200 mid-market private companies (unquoted and not subsidiaries) in Britain with the fastest growing international sales.

An agreement struck in 2006 allowed Thames Ditton-headquartered NCMT to sell Makino VIPER grinders, which NCMT helped to develop, into the aerospace and power generation gas turbine manufacturing industries across Europe. It resulted in the company hitting export sales of £10.7 million in the last financial year, with the company seeing two-year average international sales growth rate per annum of 163%.

NCMT is now looking to diversify into high precision gear manufacturing technology and has written “proprietary, industry leading software”. It plans to deploy this, not only on Makino platforms but also on machining centres and lathes produced by Okuma, another Japanese machine tool builder that the company represents, but in the UK and Ireland only. The initiative has the potential to accelerate export business further, as well as domestic turnover.
