Mori Seiki acquires European workholding operation

Mori Seiki, Nagoya, Japan and Sandvik, Sweden have reached an agreement which will see Mori Seiki take over Sandvik Tobler SAS, France, part of the Sandvik Tooling business area.

Sandvik Tobler (pictured) has operations in Louvres, France and produces precision mandrels and workholding solutions. The unit has 80 employees and sales amounted to some €8.5 million in 2006. The transfer of the business to Mori Seiki is expected to take place during January 2008, subject to the appropriate approvals of the relevant antitrust authorities. The integration of Sandvik Tobler SAS into the Mori Seiki Group will enable it to increase its engineering performance in Europe, allowing it to supply a complete machine and workholding solution, says the company. * Mori Seiki established a new Technical Centre and the European Headquarters in Paris, near Charles de Gaulles Airport, in June 2005, and completed the acquisition of precision machine tool builder Dixi, Le Locle, Switzerland earlier this year.
