Available for delivery from August this year, Bystronic's Byjet Flex waterjet profiling machine has already won over its first UK customer, reveals Bystronic UK.

The key aspect of the Byjet Flex is its ability to grow to meet a company's increasing requirements, as it can be upgraded in the field. In overall terms, the Byjet Flex allows the size of the cutting area, additional functions and multiple pump systems to be selected. In-the-field upgrades can take in a 3D cutting head and increased cutting area, for example. The machine can feature one or two heads, and there's a choice of either ByPump Direct (3,600 psi) or ByPump Ultra (5,300 psi), each of which can have a flow rate that is doubled to meet two-head operation. Fitted with the company's ByVision control, it is claimed a user friendly and intuitive machine, while the control boasts a materials' database that provide cutting parameters for more than 20 materials. Comments by a German customer - Langhof Schneidtechnik, Seeg, Southern Germany - which has been using the machine since July 2013, highlight the machine's precision and low pump noise. The company maintains precision of +/- 0.05 mm across a 6 by 3 m work area, while the ByPump Direct is said to offer a "constant build-up pressure, which leads to consistent quality cuts", while compared to other high pressure pumps "it is very quiet, which makes working with the ByJet Flex very pleasant".
