Miyano to launch BNA turning centres at MACH 2010

Miyano will launch their BNA-42S fixed head turning centre, at MACH 2010, on their joint stand, number 5450, with Citizen Machinery UK. The turning centre has been specifically developed for single cycle turn-milling tasks by combining front and back machining.

The BNA-42S is a compact design, requiring just 2.1 m by 1.3 m of floor space. Up to 16 tool positions on the eight station, tool turret servicing front and rear spindles and accommodation of bar up to 42 mm diameter, illustrate the level of versatility built into the Miyano BNA-42S fixed head turning centre. Power to the main spindle is 7.5 kW giving 5,000 rpm and 5.5 kW, 5,000 rpm for the subspindle. Each of the driven tool positions on the turret is powered by 2.8 kW, 5,000 rpm motors and because of the independent drive system there are no torque losses at the cutting tool, enabling tool shank sizes up to 25 mm to be accommodated. The strokes in X, Z and B (subspindle) axes are 135 mm, 235 mm and 310 mm respectively. Significant in the turret design is the ability to half index which doubles the application interface for tools to 16 positions. However, Miyano engineers have also developed multiple tool holders to carry static and driven tools that can be attached to any turret position without fouling adjacent tools or creating a potential for collision. As part of the joint development between Citizen and Miyano, a focus on idle time reduction should show an immediate saving of some 27 per cent in these elements compared with the previous generation of Miyano machines.
