Mazak first major machine tool maker to partner with MachiningCloud

Japanese machine tool builder Mazak has partnered with MachiningCloud, the cloud-based data repository for machine tools, cutting tools and workholding data. It is the first major machine tool maker to partner with the organisation.

Mazak customers will have direct access to complete and up-to-date cutting tool product data from cutting tool and workholding manufacturers, providing a simpler way to find the right cutting tools. They will have direct access to current and complete tooling data, without the hassle of searching through printed catalogues and multiple websites to find ideal tooling. This convenience and accuracy will save time and increase accuracy on the shopfloor, the news release says.

With the completed Mazak MachiningCloud interface, key benefits will be:

  • Enhanced virtual machining experience through the assurance of having the latest cutting tool data
  • Convert the assembly data downloaded from MachiningCloud to Mazatrol tool data, tool model on Smooth CAM RS
  • The ability to make the best choice when searching for new cutting tools and when deciding how to best run them on CNC machines
  • Mazak appears to be the first mainstream machine tool maker to partner with MachiningCloud; most other partners are cutting tool companies, variously followed by suppliers of CADCAM software, tool presetters and workholding, with one combined CNC and machine tool maker, Fanuc. Of course, Mazak machines boast the company’s own Smooth CNC technology (Mitsubishi hardware based) and have a conversational programming heritage.
