Manx subcontractor changes name

Kiartys Ltd is the new name for the Isle of Man based company which was formerly known as Tritec, 'kiartys' being the Manx word for precise, true.

The change heralds the completion of the latest stage of a transition which has seen the company move from its staple business in tool and mouldmaking to concentrate on high precision engineering principally for the aerospace, automotive, marine, medical leisure and electronics industries. Director Steve Riding explains: "People associated us with mouldmaking, which used to be a mainstay of the business, but we have changed direction completely over the last five years by gaining industry and customer approvals and moving progressively towards high precision engineering. "This has been the case with aerospace in particular and we recently pulled out of mould making altogether so that we could invest in added capacity for 5-axis machining and improved inspection facilities." Formed 15 years ago, the company holds ISO 9001 and EN9100 in addition to approvals from a growing number of aerospace customers in the UK and beyond. In addition to component production, the company has also established a reputation for prototype development, often taking products from initial design stage to production. Kiartys prototyping abilities have led to involvement in cutting edge developments including the revolutionary battery-powered GoCycle, producing components for high performance cars and for the exclusive Corpus Christi Clock, which was designed and manufactured by local designer Dr John Taylor OBE. It also specialises in low to medium run subcontract engineering work and has the flexibility to respond quickly to customers' requirements. Mr Riding continues: "One of the key factors in our growth has been in offering the flexibility to provide a specialist service supplying and manufacturing low-run components that larger subcontractors often find difficult to integrate into their production schedules."
