MACH exceeds Mazak expectations

Yamazaki Mazak said it had high expectations for MACH, after a positive first six months for 2010, but even these were exceeded, due to the high volume and quality of enquiries received, as well as the business that was concluded.

"MACH was extremely positive for Mazak," said Tony Saunders, Yamazaki Mazak's sales director. "We are crediting some of this success to engineers recognising the need to invest in the latest manufacturing technology and their understanding that Mazak has continued to develop machine tools during the recession that will deliver genuine productivity gains." Mazak had several new machine tools on display, including the Integrex j-200 and the VTC-800/20SR, both of which were 'world debut' machines. The latter being designed and built at Mazak's Worcester factory alongside the existing VTC, Nexus and Smart series of turning and machining centres. Also on display were the Hyper Variaxis 630; Quick Turn Smart 350; Slant Turn Nexus 550M; Megaturn Nexus 900; and Horizontal Centre Nexus 6000-II. Mazak was also honoured with visits to its stand by both His Royal Highness The Duke of York, and Business Secretary Vince Cable. Both spent a significant time talking to Marcus Burton, Yamazaki Mazak group managing director Europe, paying particular attention to the VTC-800/20SR machining centre. The VTC-800/20SR with its 2 metre bed length is part of the UK-built VTC series, which has contributed to the UK balance of trade, with over 85 per cent of the 170 machines installed so far being exported to Europe.
