Low cost deep hole drilling from Mollart at MACH 2010

1 min read

Mollart Engineering have developed a range of lower cost (starting at £130,000) three- to five-axis deep hole drilling machines, with a full 1 metre drilling specification, marketed under the Mollart Matrix banner and on display at MACH 2010, stand 5304.

The Matrix DHD standard range comprises seven models with drilling capacities from 3 mm to 35 mm and able to meet depth requirements up to 1,500 mm, achieved at fully programmable penetration rates up to 3,000 mm/min. Two 6,000 rpm spindle drives are available powered by 5.5 kW or 7.5 kW motors. Table dimensions between 700 mm by 600 mm to 2,700 mm by 1,200 mm can be specified, with a maximum table loading up to 15 tonne. The machines are particularly suited for companies that have a deep hole drilling requirement without the need for tool changing, probing and unmanned machining options. High levels of versatility make them suitable for a number of applications such as the production of water feed cavities in die and mould bases, off-centre hole and pattern hole drilling under CNC control, while providing a high productivity solution for components such as tube plates. By incorporating a low cost, quick-change spindle adaptor kit, Matrix deep hole drilling machines can be converted to perform additional tasks such as milling.
