Kennametal partnership with EWS set to expand KM quick-change lathe tooling availability

US cutting tool giant Kennametal is to expand the availability of its KM quick-change tooling system through a partnership with Germany-headquartered EWS (UK agent, Gewefa).

Says Jay Verellen, director of global product management, tooling systems: “The KM quick-change connection is one of the most comprehensive in the industry. Together with EWS' global leadership in driven tooling and static tool blocks, we will provide a standard range ready to tool up many major brands of CNC turning centres with this incredible system.”

Kennametal’s KM is a quick-change system that supports CNC lathes, multi-tasking machines and machining centres, in fact, but this partnership is focused on CNC turning centres, as the announcement makes clear.

Founded in 1960 as a manufacturer of laboratory equipment and hydraulic components in Köngen, Germany, EWS today offers more than 15,000 driven and 25,000 static toolholders.
