Hexagon Metrology delivers 1000th DEA GLOBAL 7.10.7

The Hirschvogel Automotive Group is a manufacturer of forged steel and aluminium parts. More than 3,000 employees world-wide produce components for the automotive industry and its system suppliers. The group's turnover in 2010 was around €600 million, with 225,000 tons of forged parts supplied. Hirschvogel Holding GmbH is the parent company of the eight automotive supply companies of the Hirschvogel Automotive Group. The home plant, Hirschvogel Umformtechnik GmbH in Denklingen, Bavaria, has around 1,700 employees and produces approximately 180,000 tons of hot and cold forged steel parts a year. The company uses the CMM to measure un-machined and pre-finished parts for the automotive industry, such as injection systems or parts for drives and gear units. Hirschvogel Umformtechnik GmbH has relied on DEA GLOBAL CMMs for some time: "For more than 20 years, we have been working with DEA CMMs," said Dieter Wahl, manager QM-Technology at Hirschvogel. "In total, more than 10 DEA GLOBALs are used in our factory in Denklingen. With the CMMs, we measure parts parallel to production in air-conditioned measuring rooms. In addition, we are also using many other machines from Hexagon Metrology." In addition to this purchase, Hirschvogel is also changing from older software versions to Quindos 7. "At our factory, production employees measure parts. This means that we have to create easy-to-understand measuring programs. As an example, with the new software we are able to embed videos in the program. Thus, we are able to visualise the measuring process even better," explained Mr Wahl.
