Auditors have praised the service facilities and fast equipment turnaround times at Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence’s precision centre in Milton Keynes.

The results of the rigorous assessment have coincided with a 50% rise in the company’s Romer portable measuring arm service and calibration business at the Tongwell site.

The audit involved an in-depth inspection of the calibration laboratory, which included checks on a range of technical equipment as well as the environment.

In the assessor’s report, the facility was commended as one of the best service centres for Romer portable measuring arms, noting its ‘good, purpose-built environment’ for calibration such as stable temperature control.

The laboratory’s performance was also praised for its fast equipment turnaround times, which were achieved on average within four days compared to the target of six.

The precision centre at Milton Keynes opened in February 2014 in part to boost after-sales and technical support services for customers in southern England. As well as a drop-in facility for minor repairs, it offers a modern training room, product demonstration area, conference and boardroom facilities.
