A wide range of sub-micron and ultra-fine grain hardmetal rods and blanks is now available through LMT (UK) of Coventry.

Supplied with or without different arrangements of internal feed holes, a bespoke design and hardmetal manufacture service is offered in addition to the standard product range. All are qualified as homogenous and porosity-free, having cobalt contents between 6 and 15 per cent. As part of the standard portfolio, ground sintered rods between 6 mm and 20 mm outside diameter by 330 mm long are available with two or three spiral holes or two straight holes in diameters between 6 mm and 25 mm. The company also manufactures gundrill format rods between 8 mm and 19 mm by 310 mm long with two straight coolant feed holes. There is also a range of sintered round rods between 6 mm and 25 mm, an as-sintered rod between 2.2 mm and 40 mm diameter and ground sintered rods between 2 mm and 40 mm diameter. Solid carbide rods in the ‘Ultra-fine’ range between 3 mm and 25 mm diameter are also available.
