GF AgieCharmilles technology show to explain faster, better, cheaper part production

GF AgieCharmilles is to host a four-day milling and EDM technology show in October - 8, 9, 10 and 11 October.

The event, primarily focused on 3- and 5- axis milling best practice, is being held at Agie Charmilles' Coventry facility, and is being supported by a number of the company's technical partners – Open Mind, Seco Tools and Thame Workholding – who are all taking an active part in delivering, what Agie Charmilles' managing director Martin Spencer promises "will be a Show to remember". Continues Mr Spencer: "Our objective when we set out planning the event was not to have a traditional-type Open House. Instead, we wanted something more focused and relevant to manufacturers' future needs and requirements. "The Technology Show is all about helping precision manufacturers make parts faster...better and cheaper...and is practical in nature. "We have organised a number of innovative and challenging machining demonstrations on our latest Mikron machining centres, like our new HEM 500U (3 + 2) machine, and our large-capacity HPM 1350U 5-axis machine, to show visitors how their performance, productivity and profitability can be increased by taking a holistic approach that encompasses the whole milling process - that's why our Technical Partners were invited to participate." The Technology Show follows the same format over the four days. Following morning registration and refreshments (from 9.30 am), the event will kick-off with keynote presentations (with Q & As) from Agie Charmilles and the three technical partners. These are followed by machining demonstrations, which take place before and after lunch, with 'Machining Surgeries' also being provided in the afternoon - a facility where visitors can talk face-to-face and discuss their own specific machining issues and challenges directly with applications engineers from Agie Charmilles and its technical partners. The Technology Show ends at 5.30 pm each day but, to allow visitors unable to attend during 'normal' working hours, will run until 10.00 pm on the Thursday (10 October). The company will provide refreshments, including free curry, for visitors who want to take advantage of the extended opening hours. Concludes Martin Spencer: "The event has universal appeal. Any and every manufacturer can improve their machining performance (even if it's only by increments). "The Technology Show, with its focus on best practice and 'how to do things and make things better' will demonstrate how visitors can sharpen-up and improve their milling operations. "Although the show is concerned with milling, our EDM applications engineers will also be in attendance to talk to visitors direct and to demonstrate our new EDM machines (like the FORM 20 - sinker and CUT 300mS – WEDM) to them."
