'Focus factory' created at Unicut Precision

Unicut Precision has refurbished an existing unit on its premises to make way for to two new Index C200 turning cells, an existing Miyano ABX64 turning centre and a Citizen A32 sliding-head lathe.

The firm is based in Welwyn Garden City and has just won a long term contract from Eaton Hydraulics to make cartridge bodies. As a result, Unicut has refitted its 4,400 sq ft unit 7 and added six staff so it can service the project. The cartridge bodies will be machined on the Index lathes and then pass on to a specially installed conveyor system to take them for in-house zinc and nickel plating. It's the epitome of a modern manufacturing cell with the parts following a precise conveyorised workflow system. Unicut Precision's managing director, Jason Nicholson, says: "The development of this 'focus factory' and the specific plant installed is a multi-million pound investment for us and it highlights our dedication to being the benchmark in subcontract precision production for OEM's and Tier 1 manufacturers."
