Five-axis machining centre from Tornos

Tornos Technologies UK – best known for its Swiss sliding-head CNC turning technology – is now able to offer 5-axis machining centres for small parts.

The move follows the integration of Almac into the Tornos Group and the launch of the Almac CU1005 5-axis machining centre, which now allows Tornos to offer a rigid and stable machining centre that performs high precision operations on simple to complex workpieces. This stability, says the company, is created by a mechanically welded base that sits on a load-bearing cast iron frame with significant mass, and guarantees excellent surface finishes and accuracy. The 5-axis CU1005 has a feed rate of 5 m/min in X, Y and Z axes and a working envelope of 220, 120 and 230 mm, respectively.
