First day MACH sale for Tornos

1 min read

Tornos UK sold a Tornos Gamma 20/6B sliding-head turning centre to Hi-Spec Precision Engineering on the first day of MACH.

The most incredible aspect of the acquisition is that the director and decision maker at Hi-Spec, Darren Grainger had only previously seen footage of the Gamma on video streaming website YouTube. The Rutland-based manufacturer was in the market for a sliding-head turning centre and had previously reviewed alternate machines. However, the guide-bushless operation, large working envelope, in-built high pressure coolant and user-friendly platform were major factors in the purchase. Hi-Spec Precision Engineering is a manufacturer of hydraulic valve and cylinder components in batches from 1,000 to 3,000. "We are delighted with the new Tornos. It has the possibility of 39 tools, with 15 driven, and this will enable us to increase our capabilities and capacity. This increased tooling configuration will allow us to offer our customers improved capability whilst giving us scope to venture into new markets," said Mr Grainger.
