On Stand 5630 in Hall 5, Dugard will show lots of new models that have not been seen at MACH before but are already gaining popularity from their introduction at EMO and the Dugard open house last year. For instance, MACH 2014 (Birmingham NEC, 7-11 April) will host the Dugard 1000E, a new line of entry level vertical machining centres that takes over where the old Dugard ECO range left off. The machines are available in a choice of bed sizes from 760 to 2,000 mm. The 1000E comes equipped with hydraulic, counterbalanced head, swarf auger and spindle refrigeration, as well as a 10,000 rpm, 24-tool, twin-arm ATC and 36 m/min rapids.
Like the 1000E, the Dugard X5 was first introduced at the Dugard open house in October. The X5 is a high speed vertical machining centre with 5-axis or 5-face milling capacity. According to Dugard, what really sets the X5 apart from other 5-axis machines on the market is the Nikken 5AX-350-ZA rotary-tilt table, which has been built to provide high accuracy, increased production and exceptional wear resistance. The X5 has a compact design and optimises capacity with 1020/610/810 mm traverse in the X, Y and Z axes. It offers linear roller guideways for rigidity and accuracy, 12,000 rpm direct drive spindle for precision and control, and rapids in XYZ of 24, 24, and 20 m/min respectively.
Also on the stand will be the Dugard 65TTSY. First seen at EMO last year, the 65TTSY is a twin-turret, twin-spindle CNC lathe with Mitsubishi multi-axis control system, 8" and 10" chuck options, and shareable Y-axis.
The Dugard HD1886B is a heavy duty, box-way vertical machining centre that was first shown at MACH in 2012, but this time there is a bigger model on the stand, the HD1886B. The HD range features tables with a reverse axis design to reduce the footprint of each machine by 30% compared to other vertical machining centres, says Dugard. This configuration means the table is supported across the full X-axis movement resulting in no overhang and no X-axis distortion. The machines also offer BT50 spindles and 24, 32 and 40 station bi-directional, twin-arm ATC options.
Next up is the Dugard 42iT ROBOT, a 4-axis gang tooling lathe with an integrated 6-axis robot. The robot can store a total of 88 programs; can handle workpieces up to 6 kg; and can manoeuvre around tooling and other obstacles in the work area. It's the first time Dugard has added a robot machine to the range.
Completing the Dugard line-up at MACH 2014 will be the Samsung PL25MC CNC turning centre.
