A new version of Dormer Tools' technical data handbook has been published, claimed to be the only publication of its type from such a cutting tool maker.
Sheffield-based Dormer Tools has produced the 200-page pocket-sized hardcopy format of the book as part of its long-term investment in technical support, education and training.
The publication follows the launch of a downloadable app version of the technical handbook, which is now available from the iTunes store and Google Play.
Simon Winstanley, marketing co-ordinator at Dormer Tools, said: "We are excited about the new version and expect it to be of huge interest to the trade. Given the sheer range and depth of material contained, it will also be of use to universities and engineering students generally."
The handbook is split into several sections, each detailing information suitable for use by the professional engineer or technician. Sections have been arranged according to machining process (drilling, milling, threading), and there is also a chapter on regrinding.
A trouble-shooting table at the end of each section looks at the causes of common machining problems and offers possible solutions.
A general information section covers all aspects of cutting tool application and geometry, including hints, material classifications and machining tolerances. The book also offers a comprehensive list of formulae for calculating speeds and feeds, power, torque and thrust.
The handbook is priced at £9.99 per copy, or free to anyone working in a production environment that completes an official 'fax-back' request, available by contacting Dormer Tools on 0870 8504466 or e-mailing: dormer.uk@dormertools.com
