Competitively priced 5-axis machines join Matchmaker range

Matchmaker CNC has added full 5-axis machining centre capability to its Matchmaker range of vertical machining centres.

The two competitively priced machines provide high performance, simultaneous 5-axis capacity under the Matchmaker brand for the very first time. Says managing director Colin Donhue: "The addition of full 5-axis capability to the Matchmaker range is a significant step and one we are sure will be welcomed by customers in the medical, aerospace, and mould and die sectors. "The ML series of machines provide a competitive solution for 5-axis machining requirements, along with the reassurance of the levels of service and support that Matchmaker has developed over many years." While the Matchmaker range has traditionally focused on 3-axis machines, the company already has experience with 5-axis technology through its association with Unisign. Most interesting to the UK market is said to be the ML-620 5 AXES, which features a highly rigid construction that encompasses a 650 mm diameter rotary/tilting table for the B and C axes, a 10 kW, 12,000 rpm direct drive spindle, axis movement of 620 by 520 by 460 mm in X, Y and Z, with -50° to +110° B-axis movement and full 360° rotation of the C-axis. The Matchmaker ML-800 5-AXES variant has an 800 mm X-axis stroke. Both machines can be supplied with either the Heidenhain iTNC-530 or the Siemens 840D SL control system, with linear scales and encoders on all axes. The 40-taper spindle machines are supported by a 32-position tool magazine.
