Over recent weeks, several companies have announced new appointments, including: XYZ Machine Tools, Bowers Group and Geo Kingsbury Machine Tools. (Updated 24/07/2018 - one appointment removed on request)

At XYZ Machine Tools, John Drage has been appointed area sales manager, covering East Anglia and into north London and Essex. He brings with him many years’ experience in a sales environment, having worked in the cutting tool sector since 2007, working across a similar area that he will support for XYZ Machine Tools.

Prior to that, Drage worked as a toolmaker, where he first came into contact with XYZ machines and the ProtoTRAK control. The experience of using a ProtoTRAK controlled machine stuck with him, in particular, its ease of use and speed of programming, and when the opportunity arose to reacquaint himself with the product by working for XYZ Machine Tools, he grabbed it, the company says.

At Bowers Group, Martin Hawkins has been appointed UK field sales manager. He has extensive metrology sales and management experience, and over the last 10 years has held positions at Perceptron, Wenzel UK and Hexagon Metrology.

Commenting on his new appointment, Hawkins said: “Bowers Group has a very good reputation for quality and innovation here in the UK. We now have many new technology products to bring to market and I’m pleased that I will be able to be part of introducing these to our current and future customers here in the UK, as well as developing relationships with key customers and distribution partners.”

And finally, at Geo Kingsbury, the sole agent in the UK and Ireland for seven ranges of prestigious machine tools built in southern Germany, an appointment has also been made.

Phil Roberts has joined Geo Kingsbury, taking on the role of sales manager for eastern England, with a focus on the company’s portfolio of smaller machine tools, namely 3- to 5-axis machining centres from Hermle and the CNC lathe programme from Index and its subsidiary, Traub.

A time-served mechanical engineer with an HND in engineering, Roberts has over 15 years’ experience in the machine tool industry, both in the sale of capital plant and tooling, and in the specification and purchase of machines and manufacturing systems.
