Ajax Machine Tools International has appointed Ian Fenton as new sales manager, working out of the company's newly established Midlands office in Leicester. He will work alongside sales manager Robert Lawrence, who operates out of the company's Lymington headquarters.

Both Ian and Robert will focus on CNC machine tool sales, managing key accounts and covering education and general workshop equipment in the UK and Ireland. Said managing director William Savin: "With our in-house machine tool build operations developing in line with our projections, we need additional representation with the high orders of experience that Ian and Robert possess in machine tool sales and who can provide greater customer support in the Midlands and north." Since 1980, Mr Fenton has spent his working life in the machine tool industry, starting as an apprentice machine tool fitter with Ex-Cell-O, which progressed into a role involving application engineering. He has spent 20 years in sales, with specialisation in milling, turning, grinding and EDM, with the last four years as a UK sales manager responsible for high speed milling machinery. Said Mr Fenton: "Being involved from the ground up on a new and exciting product in the Ajax V700 vertical machining centre and with further new products being developed by a family-owned business has a lot to offer, in terms of flexibility to meet customer needs. Also, having the interests of key accounts involving Jaguar Land Rover and Ford, this draws on my previous experience of more complex project engineering."
