Ajax appoints dealer in Stockport

Stockport based Noon Machinery Services has been appointed as sole distributor for Ajax Machine Tools International for the north-east and north-west including North Wales up to the Scottish border for machine tools and equipment sales, installation, service and customer support.

Said William Savin, managing director of Lymington, Hampshire-based Ajax: "This is a strategic step in our company growth plans for 2015 and having a sole agent in Stockport takes our business back to its roots, when, in 1979, Ajax had a purpose-built facility in Bredbury. From this centre an extensive customer base was established across the north of England."

As part of the arrangement, Noon Machinery Services is upgrading its 4,000 ft2 facilities in Offerton by converting a 1,700 ft2 unit into a dedicated Ajax product showroom and demonstration area to open this month. This will initially house an AJCBM 720 Bed Mill, Evolution AJEV 180 x 750 CNC lathe with touch screen control and an AJT 200 turret mill. Other Ajax products including a selection of manual machines such as pillar drills and saws plus workshop equipment are to be exhibited in the showroom.

Said managing director Terry Noon: "The relationship with Ajax developed through its inclusion of Heidenhain and Fanuc controls on machines that we needed to fit out a training college. These controls were, in our view, important in order for the college to be able to properly present systems and programming routines to students that they would be more likely to use without major retraining and be accepted by industry."

Noon Machinery Services can provide an installation package including on-site machine alignment and laser calibration.

Formed in 1997, Noon Machinery Services currently employs eight people and also carries out machine reconditioning, repairs, retrofits and installation and removal.
