Sub-contract laser profiling specialist SSC Laser is to expand its operations, setting up a facility in Scotland.

The move, to Motherwell, represents the company's first foray north of the border and is the third new operation opened by the company in the past 6 months. SSC Laser will commence trading this month from the Maxim Business Park on the outskirts of Motherwell. The company, which has achieved a record turnover of over £5 million, is conducting a programme of aggressive expansion throughout the UK, with plans to establish operations in every major city in the UK. "There's a real gap in the market for a dedicated laser job shop here and we're excited at the prospect of forming partnerships with the diverse business base in Scotland," explained sales manager for Scotland David France, who is from nearby Holytown. SSC Laser specialises in rapid deliveries of precision laser engineered components, in both flat and tube profiles. The firm, which also offers press-braking, laser scanning and an in-house CAD service, recently installed a state-of-the-art Bystronic Byspeed Pro 3015 flat bed laser. Added Mr France, who has forged a successful career in developing new business: "We offer precision laser cut profiles in the full range of mild steel grades, as well as offering components in stainless steel, aluminium and brass. We have a press brake facility, which allows us to offer folded parts. Our tube laser is the latest in tube Laser technology. We can process box section, circular hollow section, angles, flats and channels, up to a maximum length of 8,500 mm." SSC Laser says that it guarantees its customers "rapid responses to all enquiries, linked to unbeatable delivery times on finished components".
