Subcontractor Accurate Laser Cutting is celebrating its 10th anniversary by investing £1.35 million to boost its capacity and capability.

The company is expanding its Oldbury base in the West Midlands through a £350,000 investment in a new and improved office space and production facility.

The investment will see the laser profiling and bending firm double in size to 14,200 ft2, making room for a £1 million investment in a new 6 kW Bystronic 4020 Fiber laser machine and two Bystronic CNC Xpert press brakes. Accurate Laser Cutting has also purchased Bystronic's bespoke design and manufacture software, Bysoft7, which is supported by 3D design modelling software Solidworks.

Plans are also underway to equip the new facility with an eco-friendly bio mass boiler that will create an economical supply of heating and hot water for the entire premises, offering the business a sustainable source of energy for the future and significant savings in overheads.

Now in its final stages, the company expansion project is expected to be complete by the end of spring 2015.

Behind all this is an ambition to see the company expand and set up more facilities around the country. Jon Till, director of Accurate Laser Cutting, explains: "The long-term plan is to increase production levels by 50% and, eventually, have a manufacturing base in every major city within the UK. These latest announcements stand to reinforce our reputation as the best in the business. We are confident that our decision to invest in these innovative facilities will enable us to penetrate new industries and offer our customers the very best in quality, service and price."

The company already has another operation, in Rotherham, offering both laser cutting and bending.

The decision to expand at Oldbury comes less than three years after the company made a £1.2 million pound investment in two Bystronic Byspeed 6 kW laser cutting machines and one Amada 130 ton HFE press brake machine. Since then, production rates have continued to increase, with the business reporting a surge in demand for its specialist services.

Steve Morgan, director of Accurate Laser Cutting, says: "Our previous technological investments have proved a huge success, with production rates increasing by 40%. We are confident that the expansion of our premises, combined with further investments in the very latest equipment, will further intensify our impact on manufacturing industry, creating bigger and better opportunities for us in the future."

And the company adds it is "preparing to take manufacturing industry by storm" with the state-of-the-art cutting and folding equipment. The Bystronic 4020 Fiber laser machine and two Bystronic CNC Xpert press brakes "will offer customers unrivalled cutting speeds and folding capabilities that are certain to outshine those of their competitors", it offers.

Says Morgan: "Our decision to invest in the latest fibre laser technology from Bystronic means that even 4 by 2 m sheet metal can now be processed as efficiently and economically as possible. This expanded capacity range will keep us streets ahead of our competitors.

"The fibre laser machinery comes equipped with an innovative power cut feature to offer previously unseen thicknesses of up to 30 mm for aluminium, 12 mm for copper and 15 mm for brass. It can also accurately cut stainless steel materials up to 25 mm thick."

Concludes Till: "2015 is fast becoming a very exciting year for Accurate Laser. These new investments will not only increase our cutting bed size but will boast rapid cutting times that have never been seen before, keeping the manufacturing process as seamless as possible for our customers."
