Matsuura UK opens new AM centre as business booms

Matsuura Machinery UK is a key player in the UK machine tools industry with its 5-axis CNC machines used by the likes of Rolls-Royce to create close tolerance prismatic components and successfully moved into the additive manufacturing (AM) space four years ago when it started supplying HP machines.

The Coalville-based company provides OEM’s, SME’s and subcontractors with both additive and subtractive machining solutions, but the  next phase of the development has now come with the opening on 10 May of a new Additive Manufacturing Centre – the only facility of its kind in the UK.

An open house was then held for three days to show existing and potential customers the AM solutions it offers. Covering 11,500 square foot, the centre is adjacent to the Matsuura headquarters where its CNC machines are delivered from to UK customers and the site of its in-house Class 1000 Clean Room Spindle Facility.

The property which the AM centre is situated was purchased last year after Swiss machine tool manufacturer Tornos vacated it. It consists of a large showroom, substantial of office space, stores and loading bay.

The centre houses the expanding range of AM machines that Matsuura UK now supplies, from LUMEX, HP, Desktop Metal, ETec and DyeMansion. With this development, Matsuura UK is aiming to be the only AM centre of excellence in the UK where you can see the entire workflow experience in any material – from concept to component, in one venue, live.
