Yutaka Tanaka, president of MMC Hardmetal Europe (Holdings) GmbH, says: “It is our expectation that this new facility will become respected for providing closer, direct engineering contact with our customers. We aim to give them answers that will provide improvements to their processes, while our engineering expertise will assist in advanced, turnkey projects. MTEC will also offer an important test bed for our own cutting-tool development, and form strong links with Mitsubishi’s other global technical centres in Japan, China, Thailand, Spain and the US. This link will enable a greater sharing of accumulated machining data for the benefit of customers.”
MTEC is staffed by personnel from the European project engineering team, who will make it their new home base. The team currently consists of 12 employees and will expand as demand for services increase.
Enrique Lopez, general manager, explains “Our international, experienced team of experts will be responsible for customer projects ranging from individual application questions through to full turnkey projects. They will provide services such as bespoke tool design, CADCAM programming and complex overall machining packages.”
Kunihiro Endo, manager of MTEC Stuttgart, adds: “Co-development, technology transfer and open innovation are not unfamiliar to us. Our solutions centre will open new avenues of co-operation, enabling us to optimise continuous improvement processes and accelerate sustainable growth.”
Mitsubishi Materials now operates two MTEC facilities in Europe, the other being in Valencia, Spain.
