Sharp & Tappin launch mini composite plate saw

Sharp & Tappin has introduced a British-made mini composite plate saw aimed at test house and laboratory applications.

The saw has a capacity of 300 x 600 mm, with a cut depth of 30 mm and blade size of 150-250 mm. It is particularly suited to use alongside benchtop test machines in sectors that include automotive, aerospace, defence, materials manufacture, marine and medical. The machine is said to be easy to program, can be part-programmed to store the machining sequences for specific parts and will handle materials such as carbon/glass composites, aluminium plate/honeycomb, thermoplastics, resins and hybrid materials. Sharp and Tappin puts its composite saws through rigorous testing and has received product endorsements from Composite Test & Evaluation Ltd plus Augusta Westland.
