Walter AG, a provider of specialised machining solutions, has celebrated the centenary of its foundation with guests from the worlds of business and politics.

As well as numerous international customers and partners, those in attendance at the company’s site in Tübingen, Germany, included Dr Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut, Baden-Württemberg’s State Minister for Economy, Labour and Housing, who stated: “For 100 years, Walter AG has been synonymous with high-calibre engineering. The company is an extraordinary exponent and shining example for manufacturing precision tools, where it holds a leading role.”

Celebrations focused on the company’s innovation, creativity and future potential, with Professor Peter Post, Member of the German Council of Science and Humanities, as well as head of applied research at Festo AG, speaking about what digitalisation and innovation means for industry.

This was followed by the opening of the new company museum, which was performed by Richard Harris, president of Walter, and Franco Mambretti, grandson of the company’s founder.

Harris said: “Walter employees have not only further developed the numerous inventions of company founder Richard Walter, but created new tools, coatings and production methods. The museum is testimony to the Walter spirit of innovation, and it will be an inspiration to new generations of Walter engineers and technicians. Today, we celebrate their inventiveness and creativity.”
