Press & Shear move into water jet profiling area

Press & Shear Machinery is to market Italian Technocut water jet profiling machines in the UK.

This follows an agreement with Nottingham-based CMS, whose Italian parent group includes Technocut. It will leave CMS free to concentrate on marketing the group's machining centres for 5-axis profiling of non-ferrous materials. "Water jet cutters perfectly complement our range of sheet metal processing machines, which includes Finn-Power turret punch presses and laser-cutting machines, Baykal press brakes and shears, and recently the new Electrabrake line of manual magnetic folders," explained Mark Britton, managing director of Press & Shear. "Although our expertise is primarily in sheet metal, we will be offering the machines to job shops and OEMs for cutting a wide range of materials including glass, stone, tile, upholstery and even food. A machine is available in our Tamworth showroom for demonstrations." Technological features within the product range include intelligent kerf control, 5-axis as well as 3-axis cutting, and a bridge that weighs up to three tonnes yet accelerates at 1 m/s/s to speeds of 20 m/min and can be positioned to an accuracy of ± 0.08 mm.
